Welcome back to another blog post of Mental Health Thursday.

Today we will be talking about how to battle Negative Emotions

We often have Negative emotions like guilt, anger, jealousy, resentment and hatred…..and they consume us…

Before long, you are drowning in them with no way out

And by the time you realise how much these Negative emotions affect your decisions,way of living….Life!…. it’s too late or too hard to get out of the habit of it…but of course not impossible!

Here’s how to battle them and get out of that swamp/marsh

First of all feelings are normal even Negative ones but you should never let them affect your decisions!

It’s human to feel!!

And it’s human to make mistakes and take wrong decisions!

But if they can be avoided then why not?!

If you let yourself be consumed by your Negative Emotions ….. it’s also a threat to your mental health

How to battle Negative Emotions

  • Be optimistic

Being optimistic means being positive, thinking positively…and it helps you battle your Negative Emotions

Because most if not all Negative Emotions rise from negative thoughts

Negative Thoughts give birth to negative emotions

When you think that you have stolen something which belonged to another person…. you’ll start feeling guilty towards tht person

See this is the weird thing about Emotions ….the same Emotion might be good deemed good to have in one scenario and bad in other….it mostly depends on the kind of it.

If you feel guilty because you have done wrong then repent and redeem yourself but don’t let it dictate your life!!

  • Love yourself!

Shower upon yourself the love you shower on others

Love yourself more than others…others might betray you but you won’t! Love yourself because when no one is with you…you are with yourself!!

But honestly no one is ever completely alone!!! So never think or believe that!! You’ll always have someone who loves you immensely and unconditionally!!!

  • Be kind

Treat yourself with the same kindness you treat others with!

Be kind to yourself instead of being harsh

Treat yourself with the same mellow temperament you would treat a child with

be patient and kind to yourself!

You deserve the kindness!

  • Forgive & let Go

Forgiveness is not easy…. neither to give nor to ask for

But if you don’t forgive others then it’s yourself you are hurting not them or you are hurting yourself more than them

Forgiving someone is not easy but it isn’t impossible either

If you feel it’s impossible…just take it slow ….you don’t have to forget it…..nor you have to give them a second chance

You just have to forgive and move on

  • Be calm

Learn to be calm when facing unexpected situations

Hold on!! Think rationally instead of lashing out!!!

You can only battle Negative Emotions in a situation that’s happening abruptly by keeping calm!

  • Be grateful & satisfied

Be happy and grateful with what you have!

Strive for more but be glad and grateful for what you already have!!

  • Learn to accept the past

Accept that what’s happened has happened and can’t be changed!
