Hey! How are you?
Hope you have been well!
There are many instances where you can’t stay calm despite trying hard to!
Sometimes it’s because of anxiety other times it might be cause of anger or at times it might be even because of fear!
There are many instances where it’s needed for us to stay calm but we can’t calm down!
Here, I am suggesting some ways that can help you to calm down!
Deep Breaths:
This is one advice that can help you calm down in any situation!

Take a deep breath!
Inhale!
Exhale!
Focus on your breathing only!!!
Keep on taking deep breaths till you feel that you are okay! That you have calmed down!
Numbers:
Start Counting from 1 to 100 but slowly! Or do it while taking deep breaths or just count while breathing or just count your breaths!

Or you can start reciting multiplication tables or just start doing mathematical operations on Random numbers!
This will help your mind to distract and focus on the math you are doing! This will help you calm down!
Meditation:
This is very important because it is like a long term solution! If you meditate daily then when a situation arises you’ll be able to stay much calmer than you used to be!
This helps you to face situations with calmness!

It’s like it helps you to be calm from the beginning instead of trying to calm down after something has happened!
Soothing music:
Make a playlist of soothing musics that helps you feel at ease! And have it on your phone!
And when you feel anxious or frightened or anything of the sort!

Plug your earphones in! And listen to the soothing melody! And focus on it! And you’ll start feeling calm slowly!
Optimism:
Stay positive! Instead of letting your thoughts go haywire! Instead of thinking of the worst case scenarios, think positively!!
If you focus your thoughts on the positive side! It’ll help you in calming down!

Most of the time, we are anxious or scared because we think negatively! We make the worst out of the given situation! It’s a vicious cycle! We think negatively and become anxious and we are anxious and scared because we think negatively about the situation!
So Be optimistic!
It’s okay to have the worst case scenario in mind! But only while you are thinking of solutions or how to counter the worst case! Not to make yourself sick with worry or fear!
So Look on the Bright side of things!
Focus Away:
Distract yourself with other thoughts or things and focus on them!
Keep your Focus till you calm down!

Focusing on things unrelated to the trigger (situation or thing that made you anxious, angry, scared or uncalm?(if that’s a word!)) will help you calm down!
And now if you want you can think about that situation with a calm mind!
Get out!:
Get away from the place or situation where you are feeling those emotions!

Sometimes staying where your emotions go out of control and trying to calm down there doesn’t helps!
Let’s say something happened and you are angry and the ones who made you angry are right before you! Then it’ll be hard for you to calm down! So get away from there!

Go outside! have some fresh air!
Do the above exercises for calming down!
And you’ll start to relax!
Control your thoughts!:
I believe this to be the most important advice! Because the core reason why you get affected with those emotions is because of your thoughts!
Let’s take for example, you have a speech to make and you feel anxious or nervous! Why do you feel so?
Because your mind is having thoughts like ,”What if I don’t do well?” What if the audience doesn’t applaud?” ” What if they don’t like it?” ” What if no one wants to listen?” ” What if I mess up?”

See that’s the problem! Your thoughts! Doesn’t just reading those thoughts and imagining that situation make you feel nervous?
Let’s take another example, you made a mistake you are feeling very guilty, you are in a very bad mood because it wasn’t all your fault but you are the only one being reprimanded and punished
While you are being scolded you start to think thoughts like , ” Why me?” ” Why is the world so unfair?”, ” Why am i the only one being punished?”,”Why won’t they shut up and try to understand me?”, “Why does this happen to me only?”

See here is where your anger stems from! You start feeling angry because of these thoughts and then you lash out because you are not able to control these thoughts!
And then when you finally calm down! What’s left is regret!
So Controlling your thoughts is very important! It’s like cutting of the root of the problems!
Keep Calm!
Stay Safe!
Stay Healthy!
Keep Smiling!
