Hello!! Namastey everyone!!
I hope everyone is safe and sound. If you are a creative or an artist, you might be aware of the struggles all of us creatives as well as social media influencers from youtubers to tiktokers feel and go through on daily basis. It is easy to sit back and enjoy content produced by your favourite creators but it is that much hard to come up with new content ideas and execute those plans. It requires a lot of mental as well as physical energy. I am a youtuber and blogger myself, and there has been numerous times I have felt discouraged and not motivated enough to create anything for the audience.

Even if you have a friend who works creatively, you might have noticed they do not produce as much content sometimes, that may be because they don’t feel like themselves and there can various reasons which we have listed down below:

Things social media influencers and youtubers don’t show you but struggle from the inside:
- Burn out, a very common symptom where you feel like you are just so tired to do anything. This usually happens when we over work ourselves and do not consider taking rest. Most of the artistes feel overwhelmed by simple tasks, which leads to laziness, mental and physical fatigue. I had a burn out when I was comparing my productivity to somebody else’s and I felt I wasn’t doing enough so I worked and worked until I was dead tired and then I completely fell apart.

- Lack of motivation, very common amongst creatives. If you yourself are a creator or you have a friend who is an artist of some sort, sometimes you may see them unusually sad or blue, you may see the art they always working on, they are not working on that for quite some time. You ask them why and they may answer saying,” yll motivation nhi aari” (I am not sensing motivation bro!) Or “motivated nhi hu”(I am not feeling motivated), its because we often forget the “why” of our goals, when we don’t see the results we wanted which is not a very nice way to see your art, or mentally burnt out, we don’t get great ideas. We tend to discontinue or either over produce substandard content.

- Insecurities, as taylor swift said in her documentary, “we got into this line of work because we want people to like us, because we are intrinsically insecure, because we liked the sound of people clapping because we wanna forget it how much we think we are not good enough”, and that I think explains it all. Each and every one on this planet has their insecurities and being in the light of social media highlights them in your brain. “ There is always somebody who is better than you” is a narrative I have had this whole time when I started making youtube videos. Somebody has better quality camera, somebody has an entire team to work for them, they have more resources, they have more views, she is of my age and she has 10 times more number of subscribers than I do, what the hell am I doing?

- Mental issues, which leads to this negative dialogue about myself and my art. Our brain feeds on negativity unless you do something about it. You don’t feel good about yourself, you don’t feel good about anything because what we think is our worth comes from the work we produce. When we don’t do it so well how are supposed to feel any good, feeling unworthy. This often leads to depression.

- Pressure, when once our work is recognized by a large or say our art has gone viral, then comes the pressure to perform better than what we last time. So many a times I have faced this pressure of giving back-to-back valuable videos which everybody would love. I have this pressure hit and sit with me for days at end.

- Feeling the need to look like you have your shit together all the time, there is a youtuber I have been watching since 2018 and I have always seen her having her shit together all the time, meaning she is always well organized and is productive and all that shabam. But 2 years later 2020 she opened up about how much she didn’t have her shit together and how much she faked being organized all the time, which led her to having anxiety. Being a creative is cool but it is also very hard at the same time, so many times we see people on all platforms of social media looking like they’ve got it, like yll inka toh theek h sab badiya chal rha h, no hun, its not. They are just like us you and me, they go through the same problems as we do but a lot more than we can even fathom.

SO BE KIND AND RESPECTFUL, ARTISTS ARE ALSO ONLY HUMANS.
Stay Safe
Take care!
